The joy of incessant giving.

Joy of incessant giving

That day I had bought my favorite snack, grapes to my school. But that day I noticed a boy who I knew in our class, he never brought his snacks, and always been shared or begged some thing from others to eat, moreover once in a blue moon he brought snacks but would never share it with anybody.

After few months people avoided him during snack break, refused to give him snacks and teased him that he was beggar for snacks. I noticed him making a bee line towards me, at that time a verse came to my mind,

Matthew 5:42 (NIV)
42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

So by following Yeshua’s  word I gave him almost all my grapes. This practice continued for weeks and one day I was annoyed how I could not eat my own snacks and had to give my tasty snacks to a person who is selfish. I was determined that day to stop giving snacks and warn him strictly, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

He was giving snacks to everybody, he even shared with the people whom he was hated in class. He voluntarily went to people and asked if they wanted his chips. Wondered by such a change in him, I went to him and asked why he had become very generous?, he replied, “hey, whenever I asked other people their snacks they usually gave a bit of their food for the day and the next time I would be turned away with shame. Actually I don’t beg for food I just asked them, as my parents wouldn’t  give me snacks and they would say that lunch was enough for me. But when I asked snacks from you, you kept on giving each day and I first thought that your family was rich and I always get snacks from you, but seeing you everyday attending the next period without snacks made me think, why you would give away your snacks without anything for yourself. So I thought you gained something in giving to people so I tried it out too.

That was the first time when I realized the joy of giving. From then on for a strange reason I have enough food to share and to eat  for myself. That is why I want to thank you for teaching me the joy of incessant giving.”

Editor’s Note:
This article was written by 14 years old boy Samuel Arjun, a disciple of Yeshua, who has shared his experience in his school.

Acts 20:35 (NIV)
35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

The boy was inspired by Sam Arjun to give and found joy in that. Notice that the boy also received the blessing of Yeshua to give others and also to have for himself. Though he had said “for strange reasons” we know that it’s the Grace of Yeshua. It’s not just our word which teaches but our actions and good deeds should by itself be able to inspire and teach others. God bless you all.

Luke 6:38 (NIV)
38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
